The Venue
Busch Stadium is a two-deck concrete facility with about 25,000 seats in each deck. The seats completely surround the grass playing field, which is 10-30 feet lower than street level, and sight lines are completely unobstructed. The nearly circular structure has an outside diameter of more than 800 feet, covers more than 12 acres and is 130-feet tall, measured from the playing field to the top of the stadium. Inside, fan-friendly features include the Family Pavilion, offering a variety of games and attractions for families and children, and Homer's Landing, a picnic area located above the bullpen in left-center field.

The Experience
Expect lots of loyal, longtime fans. In 1964, Busch Stadium opened as the home of Cardinals baseball. Since then, baseball has been a city tradition. The stadium pays homage to its heroes with the Plaza of Champions monument, which honors Cardinals World Championship teams.

Missouri River Otters
Hockey is just as good without the multimillion-dollar salaries and glitz of the NHL.

Family Fun
St. Louis-area hockey fans who want to experience an inexpensive alternative to the Blues need look no further than the Family Arena in St. Charles. The mid-size, 10,000-seat arena is, among other things, home to the Missouri River Otters of the United Hockey League. The River Otters began play at the Family Arena in fall 1999 and have enjoyed two successful seasons in St. Charles County. Both campaigns saw them lose in the first-round of the UHL playoffs, but those are the growing pains expected of any young franchise.

The Team
The River Otters are coached by former Blue Mark Reeds, and they feature several ex-NHLers, which is common throughout the league. Ex-Los Angeles King Lonnie Loach has been a big part of the Otters, as has former Blues enforcer Darrin Kimble, a scorer at this level. The players in the UHL don't make a lot of money, and most of them really don't have legitimate NHL aspirations. They play for a love of the game. And isn't that what sports is supposed to be about?

St. Louis Rams
NFL fans in St. Louis are a hardy lot.

The Fans
From their earliest days in Cleveland, through their well-chronicled times in Los Angeles, the Rams have always been one of the NFL's most beloved franchises. Since 1995 they've called St. Louis home and have begun to develop a loyal fan base among the city's football-starved fans. (Of course, these same fans supported the Cardinals, a team which made the playoffs once in 27 seasons, before owner Bill Bidwell moved the team to Arizona.)

Building a Team
The Rams struggled throughout the first nine years of the 90's, including their first four seasons in St. Louis, as one of the NFL's losingest franchises. Then in 1999, thanks to some dumb luck and outstanding coaching, everything came together for the Rams, culminating in a World Championship, St. Louis' first major pro sports championship since the Cardinals won the World Series in 1982.

The Future
Today the Rams are considered a model team. Shrewd personnel moves have helped them become one of the NFL's current glamour franchises, not to mention a constant postseason contender. With Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce and company, the team has certainly has the potential for another Super Bowl title in the near future.
